Sarah Michelle Gellar on Fitness, Family and Fame
Known world-wide for her role as Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar has long been living a life of fame. She started acting in commercials at a very young age, and she continues to act today. Gellar is currently starring in the CBS comedy, The Crazy Ones, featuring Robin Williams. In the craziness of a Hollywood lifestyle, it can be difficult to live a normal life. In an interview with More magazine, Gellar talks about how marriage and motherhood helped her find a happy medium amongst all the madness.
Gellar is happily married to Freddie Prinze, Jr. “[I have] a separate life. I always say I’m Sarah Michelle Gellar when I work and I’m Sarah Prinze in the other life,” she said. Keeping relationships separate from work can help keep peace.
One of the hardest parts about adulthood is managing time. Gellar appreciates the experience she had as Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but she no longer has the time for the long hours it required. “It was a cultural phenomenon, but the hours were insane. I could barely make it home to bed,” Gellar told More.
“Me time. If I have extra time, I want to be with my kids. I still have that mom guilt. I haven’t had a facial since my first child was born.” Being a mom requires time, lots and lots of time. Gellar’s top priority now days is making sure she spends plenty of time with her children.
Gellar may have found a balance between work and family, but stress is inevitable. What does Gellar have to say about dealing with the little stresses of life? “Go on female dates, girl dates with your friends to recharge.”
Staying open and positive are crucial, especially when living in the spotlight. Gellar’s tip is to see the bright side and start to look at failure in a new light. “We look at failure as a bad thing, but if failure is a learning experience, then it makes you a better person. Don’t be so afraid of that word.”
