Being fit and healthy means committing to a certain lifestyle. Eating right, exercising regularly, and cutting back on booze are all part of that life style. Alcoholic drinks are often loaded with additional calories and a night out a really derail even the best diet. Summer is right around the corner, and while your dreams may be filled with drinking Pina Coladas on the beach, there are plenty of lower calorie drink options out there that won’t undo all that work you did in the gym this week. When choosing an alcohol to drink, the most important thing to pay attention to is what you are mixing it with. While a lot of liquors do not have many calories, adding soda, sugary juices and tonics can pack on the pounds.

Here are some of the worst caloric offenders and some lighter options that you can enjoy without expanding your waist line.

The Not So Bad:

Rum/Vodka and Diet Soda: 75 calories

Shot of Tequila: 85 Calories

Natural Light Beer: 95 Calories

Cosmopolitan: 150 Calories

Bloody Mary: 180 Calories

Don’t let a night out derail your gains in the gym. There are plenty of drinks out there that are low calorie and delicious. Be wary of mixed shots and drinks with crazy names. There often filled with juices and sugary mixers that take the calorie count through the roof!
