Eating healthy doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the savory flavors you’re used to having; it just means enjoying these flavors in a way that’s not going to end up expanding the size of your butt or thighs. For all of the foods that you absolutely love and can’t live without, there’s usually an equally enjoyable healthier alternative that will make you both feel better and look better! The key to eating healthy is remembering that it’s a lifestyle and not just a temporary fix. Once your start replacing your not-so-healthy foods with their, smarter versions you’ll be amazed by both the tastes and results and will probably never even consider to go back the stuff you used to eat.

These substitutions will make you wonder how you ever lived without:

  1. Lowfat Chicken Nachos instead of the nasty all fat all fried kind.
  2. Skinny Cow ice cream (150 calories) instead of a sundae
  3. Turkey on  fat free unsalted rice cakes instead of bread (if you choose to use bread stick to multigrain)-40 calories per slice
  4. Spinach Lasagna Rolls instead of the saturated fat laden beefy kind.
  5. Sherbet or sorbet instead of full fat ice cream
  6. Canadian Bacon instead of regular bacon
  7. Scramble 2 egg whites rather than 1 egg
  8. Sweet Crusted Chicken Nuggets instead of you know … the fried dark meat kind.
  9. Salted or seasoned air-popped popcorn instead of movie theater buttered popcorn
  10. Brown rice instead of the usual white rice
  11. Protein Power Potato instead of regular potato skins.

Share some of your favorite substitutes for the traditionally bad stuff too. We know you’ve magically created the perfect healthy version of the ultimate Christmas pie, haven’t you?
