According to a study performed at St. Georges Hospital Medical School in London which studied the diets of over 2,500 men, apples were found to help increase lung function and capacity by approximately 138 millimeters on a specialized lung test called an FEV1. This increase was found in participants who consumed at least 5 apples each week in their diet.

In addition to apples helping increase lung capacity, another study from “Planta Medica” found that consuming at least one apple every day decreases an individuals risk of developing lung and colon cancer.

So abide to the age old adage and eat an apple every day.
