Anchorman’s Newsman Ron Burgundy Is Full Of Surprises: He’s a Marathon Runner!

As you all may know Will Ferrell, aka, the legendary Ron Burgundy is known for his vigorous workouts….

Surprisingly, America’s favorite comedian not only can perform over a thousand reps in a single exercise, but the guy runs too!  Will Ferrell may be all fun and games on the TV screen, but when it comes to running he does not mess around. Ferrell thanks his wife, Viveca, for getting him started with running. The fit couple even tackled marathons together.. Let’s take a look at some of the actors past running events and times …

2001 NYC Marathon (5 hours,1 minute,6 seconds)
2002 Stockholm Marathon (4 hours, 28 minutes,2 seconds)
2003 Boston Marathon (3 hours, 56 minutes, 12 seconds)

According to Men’s Health, Ferrell told USA Today about Boston Marathon’s final incline at mile 20, “Heartbreak Hill felt like a lovely summer day,”  “And then you get hit over the head with a hammer.”

October 2012 Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles Halloween Half Marathon, held to benefit the ASPCA. (2 hours, 3 minutes and 50 seconds) FYI: Fernando Cabada won the race in 1 hour, 4 minutes and 56 seconds.

Did You Know: In 2006, Paradise Lakes, America’s premier nudist resort, invited Ferrell to participate in their 12th annual “Sneaker Streaker 5K,” a clothing-optional race around the club’s 72-acre land. The race director believed Ferrell would be a perfect participant, especially after his 2003 role as Frank “The Tank” Ricard in the  film Old School. The film included a memorable scene in which Ricard went streaking on a college campus.

The anxiously awaited film, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, will hit theaters this December!
