How much weight have you lost? 60-70 lbs

How did you lose it? Initially, I lost the bulk of my fat by adhering to a strict low-carbohydrate regimen with hardly any exercise. But, in the past few months I’ve become a frequent gym goer.

What prompted your weight loss? In all honesty, I’ve always wanted to lose weight but never knew where or how to begin. Arriving to college provided me with the access to the resources necessary to begin my weight loss journey and the newly acquired freedom to choose what I do and what I eat enabled me to be able devise a diet plan without the concern of my parents or siblings.

How long did it take? It took over a year.

What was the hardest part? The hardest part was accustoming to the new diet.

Most fun part of your weight loss? I would say the most fun part of my weight loss has been the journey itself; reflecting on how about a year I was highly inactive but now am a frequent and avid gym-goer is a pretty good feeling.

Most rewarding experience? The most rewarding experience has been the look of shock on friend and family’s faces.

Who/what inspires you when you feel like quitting? The number on the scale or my reflection in the mirror – be it good or bad – is what inspires to persevere when I feel like quitting.

How has this weight loss changed you life? This weight loss has caused me to adopt healthier lifestyle habits.

Have any advice for others who’d like to lose weight? Don’t be sidetracked by the naysayers and those who ridicule you. Persevere, set short-term goals and long-term goals, and you will see results.

Your must-have fitness equipment: Vibrams running shoes.

Favorite training song: Jogging- Yelle

Favorite healthy food: Broccoli

Favorite not-so-healthy food: Tres leches

Funniest thing that’s happened surrounding your weight loss: The first I’d seen my family in a few months, they all thought that I’d lost weight from too much studying or lack of food.

Congrats, Steve! Keep beating the scale and staying in shape!
