Oh gosh. I hate the word “fat”. I even hate the word “hate”. In my house, those two words are unacceptable and my kids would go straight to time-out if they said either. BUT! I’m sitting in front of the TV while working and I’m listening to a group of folks on NBC’s “Today Show” harping on New Jersey Governor Chris Christie<\/a> and his weight. Yes, he’s overweight. Morbidly obese, to be specific. But, would that hold me back from voting for him? Absolutely not! Advertising exec, Donny Deutsch, argues that his big body shows lack of discipline and if he can’t control himself … how could he control this great nation? I get it. But I totally disagree.<\/p>\n

Why? I’ve been working with overweight folks for well over 20 years. Do they struggle to manage their weight, control their eating habits and commit to exercise? Absolutely. Many of them have also been some of the most entrepreneurial, wise and financially successful people I know. I guess after so long in this profession, I just don’t see “fat” or “thin.” I see people, who need my help to get their bodies healthy. Of course, there are great benefits to being fit while in office. As I wrote in an article about the official Republican candidates looking pretty healthy <\/a>… a fit President would be more likely to endure the rigorous schedule and demands of the most powerful position in the world. High levels of energy, stress management and a sturdy body are all something fitness can provide. I couldn’t let a lack of fitness hold me back from voting though.<\/p>\n

As Late Night host, Dave Letterman, mocks the great governor for not being trim, millions of folks look at Chris Christie and see nothing more than a spinal chord of steel and a full tank of common sense. What do you think? Chris Christie aside. Political parties aside. Would you vote for an obese candidate for President?<\/strong><\/p>\n
