If training for a race, Saturday mornings are usually my long run day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brief description of your eating habits:<\/strong> I\u2019m a vegetarian (and have been for over\u00a020 years) so I\u2019m constantly thinking about how to add lean protein to my diet. I try\u00a0to plan and pack lots of snacks each day.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2028Favorite Workout:\u00a0<\/strong>\u2028Running outside on our local rail trail or playing tennis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Least favorite way to workout?\u00a0<\/strong>\u2028Long runs on the treadmill while training for a\u00a0race.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How does fitness affect you as a professional?<\/strong> It gives me energy, it is\u00a0something that I can talk about with my students and co-workers, and I have\u00a0pride in sharing my running accomplishments my work community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2028Would you be as good at what you do if you didn&#8217;t pursue fitness?<\/strong> Fitness is\u00a0something that I do for me and I feel more energetic afterwards, I see the difference in my attitude, my focus, and my self-esteem when I stay on my fitness\u00a0routine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2028How do you squeeze fitness in on a crazy busy day?<\/strong> If I don\u2019t get up and out\u00a0early in the morning on weekdays, I rarely am able to fit in my workout.<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-51055\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fitzness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Feattt-300x400.jpg\" alt=\"Feattt\" width=\"230\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fitzness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Feattt-300x400.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fitzness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Feattt.jpg 395w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 230px) 100vw, 230px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>How do you fight the urge to skip workouts?<\/strong> I pack my stuff the night before and\u00a0have it ready to go when the alarm goes off. Then I have to tell myself, \u201cGet your\u00a0yourself up and go!\u201d I always feel great if I do it and I feel disappointed if I don\u2019t.\u00a0I rely on the support of my running buddies on the Mickey Milers, the running\u00a0team for the Mickey Miles Podcast.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2028If you travel, what kind of workouts do you do on the road?<\/strong> It depends on\u00a0where I am. When I\u2019m in Orlando, I love running Disney resorts. If I\u2019m in a place\u00a0with which I\u2019m not familiar, I will ask the hotel for suggested (and safe) running\u00a0paths or just use the treadmill.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What other obstacles do you face (health-wise) as part of your work?<\/strong> <strong>Have you\u00a0found a way to overcome them?<\/strong> I\u2019ve had various injuries and just have to tell\u00a0myself to take it one day at a time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2028Must-have training equipment:<\/strong>\u2028 My iPod. I love running with music and\u00a0podcasts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Favorite training tune:\u00a0<\/strong>\u2028It changes all the time, but lately I\u2019ve enjoyed Uptown\u00a0Shuffle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Favorite healthy food:<\/strong> Apples. Love \u2018em!<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2028Favorite not-so-healthy food:<\/strong> Cheese and wine (preferably together).<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2028Do you think fitness is a factor in being successful in business?<\/strong> I do. I think\u00a0being fit helps you to focus, feel confident, and provides stamina.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What fit professional inspires you?<\/strong> Former Olympian, Jeff Galloway. He loves\u00a0running and inspiring others and he\u2019s well into his 60s. Seth Zeigler, my trainer, inspires me too.\u00a0 He lost weight and motivates others with humor and a positive outlook. He has a great attitude.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advice for others trying to become more fit:\u00a0<\/strong>\u2028I think making a goal and cheering\u00a0with your cheer squad, whether it be friends or family, is important. You\u2019re not\u00a0going to achieve every goal but you can\u2019t stop trying.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What fitness achievement are you most proud of?\u00a0<\/strong>For me, that was running the Boston Marathon in 2014 to support Spaulding Rehab in Boston (they did the rehab of many of the Boston Marathon bombing victims).
