Halloween is just around the corner, temptation to over indulge in this sweet holiday grows more and more as the days approach. Before you go running through the candy aisle snatching up bags like they were stuffed with money, check out this spooky, sweet treat:<\/p>\n

Scare-amel Apples

Ingredients:
\nAny selection of eating apples (e.g. Gala, Granny Smith, Fuji, etc.)
\nCaramel
\nMeal worms and\/or Crickets
\nSkewers<\/p>\n

Directions:
\nPre-heat oven to 375 F (190 C)
\nBake the bugs on a baking tray for approximately 15 minutes. They will look golden and crunchy and smell nutty when done. Make sure to turn them over halfway through to prevent burning and ensure even cooking.
\nSlowly melt the caramel in the microwave on low heat or gently above a saucepan of simmering water.
\nSkewer the apples and cover them in caramel.
\nRoll the sticky apples in the bugs and place them in the fridge to cool and harden.<\/p>\n
