Lindsey Vonn, Olympic gold medalist and AP\u2019s 2010 Female of the Year, sat down with FITNESS magazine to give the scoop on competition, rivalry and retirement. Apparently a whole load of babies and cookies are in this athletes’ future!<\/p>\n

On how she dealt with the media circus at the Olympics: <\/strong>\u201cI\u2019d heard the Michael Phelps\u2013like expectations, so I just shut myself off from all the hype. I didn\u2019t watch TV; I didn\u2019t look at magazines or newspapers. I had to pretend it wasn\u2019t the Olympics but just another race in Vancouver. Otherwise I would have psyched myself out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Is there really a rivalry between you and Julia Mancuso? <\/strong>\u201cWhen I\u2019m in the starting gate, I want to win. I\u2019m not saying that I want to beat one particular person; I just want to win. With women the media tends to blow things out of proportion and make it personal, when we\u2019re really just competing.\u201d<\/p>\n

On winning a gold medal: <\/strong>\u201cWinning the downhill\u2014my favorite event\u2014will always stand out for me for the rest of my life. Finally accomplishing something you\u2019ve been dreaming about since you were a little kid is just beyond words.\u201d<\/p>\n

Is there any sport you\u2019re not good at? <\/strong>\u201cI\u2019m pretty bad at surfing. Things in water tend not to go so well for me.\u00a0 I sink like a rock. I think it\u2019s because of my big butt.\u201d<\/p>\n

How long do you think you\u2019ll keep skiing? <\/strong>\u201cIn 2015 the world championships will be in my hometown of Vail, Colorado. So I\u2019m going to try to do well for the crowd. Maybe after that I\u2019ll retire and have four kids. I want to be a stay-at-home mom who bakes cookies and is there for her children.\u201d<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve won an Olympic gold and your husband hasn\u2019t. Does that bother him? <\/strong>\u201cNo! We\u2019re each other\u2019s biggest cheerleaders. He supports me 100 percent. We\u2019re opposites that attract; every clich\u00e9 you can think of is true when it comes to us. I\u2019m the emotional, spontaneous one who listens to my heart, and he\u2019s logical and focuses on the details.\u201d<\/p>\n

When are you happiest? <\/strong>\u201cWhen I\u2019m with my family, preferably while skiing. I love being out on the mountain and feeling the wind against my face mixed with the adrenaline of going fast. At that moment it doesn\u2019t matter what else is going on in my life. All the chaos stops.\u201d<\/p>\n
