When the fourth hour of the Today<\/em> show seemed to be an utter snooze-fest, drastic measures had to be taken. The Today<\/em> show craved spark, liveliness, or as Kathie Lee Gifford told AARP, \u201cIt needed trouble!\u201d. Well, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb brought just that, double-trouble!<\/p>\n

The dynamic duo brings an entirely different vibe to the news station- celebrity interviews, food, makeovers, music, girl talk, gossip and games. Not your average news station, huh?<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are enough channels around where people can get a heavy dose of breaking and bad news,\u201d says Kotb.<\/p>\n

Besides their morning wine routine, the two stylin’ and slim hostesses turn to a healthy lifestyle to keep that energy up every single morning.<\/p>\n

Kathie Lee Gifford tells AARP magazine, \u201cI\u2019ve been following this advice: living the clean, well-rested, well-exercised life, or at least die trying to.\u201d<\/p>\n

KLG: \u201cIt\u2019s so hard to find magic the first time. To think it could happen twice\u2026?\u201d<\/p>\n

Their friendship. Fake or For real?<\/strong>
\nKLG: \u201cI only knew the “Dateline” Hoda, but I had lunch with the happy hour Hoda. I loved her! [I said] You\u2019re the kind of person I\u2019d be friends with for the rest of my life. … I thought my heart didn\u2019t have any more room for more people. I felt I didn\u2019t have enough time for the friends I already had. But if I hadn\u2019t made room for Hoda, I would have missed out on one of the great blessings of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

HK: \u201cI say thank you to Kathie Lee all the time. Before her, I\u2019d still be doing what I was doing and not know what I was missing. My life would be half as full.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not your average news station<\/strong>
\nHK: \u201cOur show is a place to forget your troubles.\u201d<\/p>\n

KLG: \u201cWe don\u2019t take ourselves seriously. If we\u2019re having fun, our audience has fun. Fun is contagious. … Everybody started wanting cocktails, and we couldn\u2019t be rude.\u201d<\/p>\n

HK: \u201c[The wine] is a prop as much as anything, but it invites you to the party.\u201d<\/p>\n

The purpose of life<\/strong>
\nHK: \u201cAt that point you either look for potholes everywhere, or you realize your life has margins, and you stop wasting time.\u201d<\/p>\n

KLG: \u201cIf you have a pulse, you have a purpose. Every morning, before I get out of bed now, I take my pulse. If I have one, that means that God\u2019s not finished with me yet. I still have work to do on this planet.\u201d<\/p>\n

On finding love again<\/strong>
\nHK: \u201cI\u2019m a believer that the next great love can be around the corner. Anderson Cooper\u2019s mom [Gloria Vanderbilt] once said, \u2018I love falling in love.\u2019 That totally lit me up. I really want to meet the right guy for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
