\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Although the American Idol <\/a>judge Karen DioGuardo seems to have her stuff together, it wasn’t always the case. In the April issue of Women’s Health Magazine<\/a>, Karen discusses her battle with an eating disorder<\/a>, breaking in to the music industry and what she does to keep her body better than it was in her 20’s! Below is a sneak peek at what she had to say!<\/p>\n She battled an eating disorder in her early twenties\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d pretty much clean out the refrigerator.\u00a0 Food was my drug of choice. It anesthetized me so I wouldn\u2019t have to feel whatever I was feeling.\u00a0 I\u2019d stuff myself full of sugar and fall asleep.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Healthy eating habits\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThe more roughage you eat, the more it fills you up.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n She drinks lots of water\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cTwo huge bottles a day, minimum.\u00a0 I have them around \u2013 one upstairs, one in the car \u2013 to force me to remember.<\/p>\n Her exercise routine\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cTwo miles of running or 25 minutes of cardio \u2013 boxing, treadmill, step-ups, walking lunges, sprints.\u00a0 I mix it up.\u00a0 And weight training is important as you get older.\u00a0 You build muscle which burns fat when you\u2019re at rest.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Her loved ones are honest with her\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cSomeone [close to me] said, \u2018You may want to work on your arms \u2013 they\u2019re a little jiggly\u2019\u2026The people in my life have no qualms about telling me when I don\u2019t look great.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n After getting her first job in the music industry\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI started to feel better about my life.\u00a0 I was answering phones and getting water but I also learned about the music business.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On her plans to take some stuff off her plate when she has kids\u2026 <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019ll be a lot of pressure being in charge of a little soul who will someday judge me if I\u2019m not there for the school play.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n She\u2019s finally content\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cFor the first time in my life, I\u2019m content.\u00a0 I don\u2019t feel the need to prove myself anymore.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>
