More than 10,000 runners dropped in for scary good nighttime race themed around iconic haunted hotel<\/em><\/p>\n

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Sept. 29, 2012) \u2013 Juan Morales of Huntington Beach, Calif., bested more than 10,000 runners at the inaugural Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler race at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., Saturday, checking in with a58:00 finish.<\/p>\n

Another Golden State runner, Kimberly Mueller of San Diego, was the first woman to cross the finish line. Mueller finished with a time of 1:04:50.<\/p>\n

The frighteningly fun course steered runners through ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex before returning to Disney\u2019s Hollywood Studios, past the set of the \u201cLights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show\u201d and around Mickey\u2019s Sorcerer\u2019s Hat, finally finishing near the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction.<\/p>\n

Finishers received a commemorative medal inspired by the iconic Tower of Terror, then celebrated with a triumphal Disney Villains Hollywood Bash post-race party with family and friends. Guests enjoyed live music and characters and had exclusive access to attractions such as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, Star Tours and Toy Story Mania.<\/p>\n

Other weekend events included the Disney Happy Haunted 5K Trail Run, run<\/em>Disney Kids\u2019 Races and a health and fitness expo at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.<\/p>\n

The new Twilight Zone Tower of Terror race is a reincarnation of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 13K and the sixth signature run<\/em>Disney event. This is run<\/em>Disney\u2019s second nighttime race, joining the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend, held Nov. 9-10, during the final weekend of Epcot\u2019s International Food & Wine Festival.<\/p>\n
