Ryan Lochte has been on the world’s swimming <\/a>stage for many years, but his recent defeat of Michael Phelps in the World Championships have made Lochte a favorite for Gold in the London Olympics. He recently sat down with Men’s Health for an interview about his training, expectations, and how it feels to finally beat Michael Phelps.<\/p>\n

He finally beat Michael Phelps and this World Champion is hungry for more: <\/strong>\u201cThe World Championships were just an appetizer of what I\u2019m capable of doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

He has a ferocious spirit for training and races:<\/strong> \u201cPain, tolerance, endurance\u2014when it comes down to that point, there\u2019s always something left. You just have to find it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Staying positive despite losing to Phelps in a race in March: <\/strong>\u201cDuring heavy training, I\u2019m not great, because I\u2019m so beat up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even though he’s accomplished so much:<\/strong> \u201cI know I haven\u2019t had those perfect swims yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

He has a secret weapon in is post workout nutrition. <\/strong>\u201cMy recovery meal is two grilled chicken breasts with Alfredo sauce, whole grain spaghetti, and a salad with lemon juice and olive oil.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
