Oakley performance apparel is no joke. I recently traveled to snow-packed Snowbird, Utah to work as “product reviewer” for a variety of Oakley’s snow and ski apparel. (I’m an Oakley Ambassador.) I boarded a plane from my native state of Florida with fear in my heart, terrorized by the cold that lied ahead. Most folks who know me consider me a lizard who truly needs a hot rock to sit on. Heat is my thing and that is that. It’s hard to express how relieved I was when I stepped on to a massive mountain covered with snow and actually felt – sweaty. I’m still uncertain how it all works, because besides the ski pants I was wearing, all of the other layers were thin – including the Oakley GB Insulated Jacket. It’s really pretty, it’s tailored and it kept me completely comfortable. Where I thought I might turn in to a Frozen Fitzicle during my snowboarding lesson, I got to focus on learning my new fun hobby instead.
The temps are down in the 30′s here in the Sunshine State and I’m able to wear this jacket a lot lately. My friends, who don’t own a lot of “snow gear” have chased me down to find out how to get a jacket like mine, because there’s nothing like it around. It’s breathable, thin, waterproof, has tons of pockets, a hood which stays back via a magnet if you don’t want it flopping around, zippers, drawstrings and more. I honestly didn’t know stuff like this existed. (I know everything about beach gear though.) I always thought warm jackets had to be giant, fluffy and fairly inconvenient. Oakley’s high-tech materials have shown me the late. I’m now no longer afraid of snowy mountains, I’m chomping at the bit to get back on top of one.

Ordinary insulated jackets make you look like a roly-poly ball of puff. Not this Pro Rider Series design because we created it with snowboarding starlet and style sensation Gretchen Bleiler. The key is low-bulk Thinsulate™ insulation. A breathable waterproof membrane adds extra protection on the chilly hill while helping prevent perspiration buildup. Wrist gaiters and a hood with a high inner collar keep you cozy, and when it’s time to purge heat, just open the underarm vents and cuff zips. Rendered with a nuance of classic European styling, this is your new must-have for winter sports.
