We can all benefit from being more active in our day to day lives. Whether you’re a busy mom who wants to feel stronger or fitter, to an older person that wants to just walk more each day to feel less out of breath. But being active in your life every day can be easier than you think. While having dedicated time to specific exercise is important, there are plenty of things that you can do to more active all of the time.
While doing chores and being physically active in that way can be a good thing, it isn’t necessarily going to be what will get your heart pumping as it should. Here are just some of the ways that you can step up your activity levels, and make sure that you’re doing something that is right for you and right for your goals.
Find Something That You Enjoy
When you enjoy exercise, it isn’t going to feel like such a chore or ordeal to go and do it. And even when you enjoy something, you can still find that it does push you for change. So try out a few different things, even perhaps a more unusual type of fitness like trampoline fitness classes or aerial yoga. When you find what you enjoy, you’re going to keep at it.
If budget is a concern and you can’t afford to get a trainer or go to a gym, then running (or brisk walking) is something that everyone can do. Even if you haven’t done a lot before, there are apps that can guide you on what to do, much like the Couch to 5K app, for example. Then all you need to think about is where you will go running, as the app would tell you what to be doing and when to walk or rest.
Change Your Commute
If you travel into work by car each day, change up your mode of transportation. When you run, walk, or cycle to work, you’ll be getting in some legit exercise before your work day begins. If that wouldn’t be possible the whole route, then how about parking somewhere far out while planning to walk, run, or cycle the rest of the way? It can make a big difference to your energy levels and means that you’ll be fitter than ever.
Walk As Much As You Can
We are all busy and when you’re at work, it can be tempting to sit at your desk during lunch to do even more work. But at the end of the day, that isn’t going to be a good thing for you or your health. Take a break! It will be good for your mental health as well as your physical health. Not to mention going for a walk during your break can lead to burning calories too.
