Gym-goers everywhere will get a big belly laugh from checking out this hysterical video highlighting the most outrageous (yet surprisingly common) behaviors seen each and every day at the gym. You might just find out that you’re one of the big offenders – who knows? I, personally, find the “humping-in-place” move awesome enough to make it part of my daily routine. Fit Bottomed Girls just published this funny spot and it’s definitely worth two minutes and 39 seconds of your time!

Rescue for Exercise Induced “Leakage”

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Pantzies.com

Leaking while running, dancing, jumping, coughing, sneezing etc … is no joke. As a fitness trainer, I’ve supported hundreds of women who’ve confided their aversion to certain higher impact exercises due to “leaking”. Yes! This means that since these ladies had babies, they have a little less control and sometimes a little pee leaks out while they’re working to get fit. It’s called “incontinence”. Of course, this can be a pretty humiliating experience and physically uncomfortable as well. Exercises like Kegels, and other treatments suggested by your gynecologist or physical therapist may help, but in the meantime there’s Pantzies.

Pantziesare high fashion panty liners designed by acclaimed fashion designer Laura Stern which come in a variety of funky colors, prints and styles. Not only are they prettier than the average feminine products, they are the world’s first washable and reusable stick-on panty liner! You can wash them by hand (careful not to let the liner stick to itself) then lay them flat to dry within a few hours and once dry just peel them up and stick them onto a fresh pair of your panties! They also come in three shapes to accommodate a wide variety of panties, pants and of course – SPANX! (more…)

Pink Loves her “Man Abs” and Ranks her Body

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Women's Health Magazine

Lorenzo Agius/Women’s Health

Resident bad-ass of the music biz, Pink, opens up to Women’s Health magazine in the January/February issue about love, competition, and most importantly, her workout routine.  While currently on tour in Europe, this ripped lady still manages to workout seven days a week—and it shows!  She recently lost 20 pounds!

On her “man abs…”

“My man abs? They’re pretty full-on. It’s like that D’Angelo video [for “How Does It Feel”]; he’s got that V. I get a lot of flak for it. That’s where the masculine thing comes in, people saying it’s not normal for a girl to have [those]. But I’m OK with it. I think it’s because I was a gymnast for eight years, from ages 4 to 12. My body was made before my bones were fully grown. Gymnasts are short, stocky, muscular powerhouses.”

How she stays fit on the road…

“Ever hear of P90X? My brother and his wife are both in the Air Force; they do marathons and triathlons. I went [to visit them and she’s doing P90X]. I couldn’t keep up with her—and she’d just had her first baby four weeks ago. I was like, This is bullshit! I will perfect this thing! So usually, I wake up and do an hour of cardio, then an hour of P90X or yoga, then a half-hour of warm-up [during show rehearsal]. I do that six days a week.”

Her day off… (more…)

K-Swiss is far better known for fashionable footwear than functional fitness gear, but now they’re offering both. I’ve been giving the K-Swiss Tubes running shoes a try and they’re actually quite nice. Light, flexible, supportive and pretty cute too! The new Tube Technology is a unique twist creating a super-cushiony sole and a fun bit of funky flare to your feet. These kicks make an ideal holiday gift as the suggested retail price is only $75.  Not bad for serious sneakers. They come in a variety of colors and can be found at K-Swiss.com. Give them a go!

Thanksgiving: I’m Thankful for You

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

fitz-pink-fruit-200

Happy  Thanksgiving to all of my American friends! Hopefully your meals will be both healthy and tasty. My mother is cooking for 25 of us, and I can’t wait until 4:00pm when the food gets placed on the table. After playing football and soccer for hours, we’ll have 30 pounds of turkey, giant bowls of stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes (made with skim milk and NO butter), asparagus, rolls, and a massive pot of black beans and rice contributed by my Cuban sister-in-law, Sandy. Hooray! I’ll workout for a solid hour in the morning to get my day kicked off right  and then cap it off with a long hand-holding walk around the neighborhood with my Mister. I think you should do some sweating too!

I also wish you all a pleasant and drama-free experience with your friends and families. Holidays are only fun if they’re not stressful, so try to keep things bright, light, and pleasant. When a rude comment darts in your direction, count to 10 and plan to calm yourself at the gym the next day. (more…)

Magneat: The Solution for Annoying Headphone Wires

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

How many times have you struggled to keep your headphone wires out of your way while jogging down the road? Headphone wires not only live in a constant state of “tangly mess”, they harass your arms while running, dancing, jumping rope or practicing martial arts.  My big news for you today though is that all of that frustration can now come to a complete stop as I introduce you to Magneat.

Magneat is a super cool fitness tool that attaches to your shirt via the strongest magnet known to the world (I kid you not), and basically serves as a wrap for your headphone wires. It’s simple yet incredibly smart and has the power to turn your workouts in to a sweaty, uninterrupted, stress-free experience … as you’d always hoped they would be. (more…)

Hair in Your Face? Try BondiBand!

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
BondiBand.com

BondiBand.com

My fancy friend Kristen has been strutting around my gym for the past few months with these awesome BondiBands strapped around her head. She’s been  looking sharp and her hair’s remained perfectly in place; to say I’ve been jealous is an understatement. (Yes, I’m admitting to being jealous over a headband.) Of course I’ve had my own head bands, but mine were too thin, not stretchy enough or just moved around on my head too much while exercising. Kristen’s headbands were really wide at the front and really thin at the nape of her neck. They seemed to be the perfect shape and feel for a headband to do it’s job well. I was green indeed. But now I’m not and I bet you can guess why! I am now the proud owner of my own BondiBands and they are everything I imagined them to be.

BondiBands are made of what I believe to be lycra; perfectly soft and stretchy. They’re also wide enough to keep all of your crazy fly-away front hair pieces and bangs completely out of your face for the duration of your workout. In fact, the number one reason my clients have to pause while training is to adjust their hair. Frustrating! So if you’ve got short hair, long hair, curly hair or straight … BondiBands may be the perfect solution for keeping your workouts interruption free. They’re even washable, which will come in handy once you’ve completed your nonstop training session. (more…)
