If you’re a parent or a grandparent, you probably already know that the things you teach those little kids of yours will last a lifetime. The thing is – are you teaching them habits that will benefit them for a LONG lifetime? Do you provide dessert every day? Seems harmless, cause they’re so cute and sweet and gee whiz, even thin right now! But a habit of dessert every day today will turn in to a habit of dessert every day in twenty years and that usually doesn’t turn out so good. Not only does it, of course, increase their chances of struggling with their weight … but it also increases their chances of incurring a variety of awful ailments and diseases, even premature death. Disney World is an awesome place to have an active vacation. Walk miles through a theme park. Jump waves, climb stairs and run instead of tube through the lazy rivers of Typhoon Lagoon. Dance all night at Pleasure Island. If you haven’t done anything fun with the kids this summer yet and you want to plan a trip that won’t make your belly burst, Disney is the way to go!

Strong Sexy Support for your Handful

Ladies, you’re in luck! If you’ve been searching for a sports bra that minimizes bounce while you’re bouncing, looks great without smooshing your set in to one big uniboob and actually feels comfortable then I’ve found what you’re looking for! Handful bras are soft, sexy and supportive all at the same time.

I received a Handful bra sample several weeks ago, and on first sight I thought it looked pretty wimpy. Why? It was  soft and cute, which is usually code for “wimpy” when it comes to sports bras. I was instantly impressed within my first few steps of running in it though. My cutie Handful bra offered just as much control as the bulky ugly bras I own and get this - one of my buddies told me it made my chest look ”fake”. Hello! Nice compliment, right? Fake boobs stand up pretty and I’m all about that. (more…)

Get and Keep your 2XL Groove on!

There’s no doubt that music is one of our most powerful weapons for fighting the battle of the bulge.  It provides motivation, momentum, entertainment, distraction and more as a tool to keep us going while exercising. Because of this, I believe it’s vital to have both an mp3 player which works without issue and earbuds which actually stay in your ear!

The personal music player industry has certainly come a long way, but yee-gads! It’s taken the headset folks a long time to chatch up. Finally though, I think they have.  Groove by 2XL is an adjustable headphone set which both stays firmly in place and generates bold clear sound. The earbuds themselves are quite large, which may sound bad, but it’s not. They fit quite perfectly in the ear and are held in place by an adjustable hanger which wraps around it.  This feature really makes the headset stay put, and I suppose the size of the ear bud enhances the sound. 3 Fun Indoor Fitness Activities for Kids

Paper plate hop scotch: Take five to ten paper plates and print large numbers on them. Place them on carpeted floor or grass in a straight line, or scatter them out in random order. Have kids jump from plate to plate in numeric order. If your child can not count yet, forget the numbers and simply have them jump from plate to plate

Plastic cup relay races: Place five cups at the edge of your largest room several inches apart from each other. Start your child at the opposite side of the room. Have her race to get each cup individually and place them on her starting side of the room. For a greater workout, use more cups!

Freeze dancing: Turn on some fun music for your children. When the music plays everybody should dance. When the music stops everyone needs to freeze. To make this game tons of fun, encourage everyone to dance really wild and freeze in their silliest pose possible. This will keep them entertained and interested in dance for longer periods of time.

High-5 to Hilton’s Fitness Center – A Thoughtful Place to Train

For fit travelers, the hotel fitness center can be a lifesaver. It’s an amazing gift to be able wake up and get a quick workout before an entire day of meetings, theme park strolling or (gasp) a family get-together.  Some are fancy and some are not, but I’m always grateful to have something when I’m on the go.

I spent a couple of days this week in Houston for a speaking engagement and really wanted to give a big high-five to the Hilton Houston Hobby Airport Hotel for the nice job they did designing their fitness center. It was simple but well-rounded, full of high-end equipment and really thoughtful as well! In the pictures below you’ll see: a couple of cardio machines which are in pretty great shape, a fabulous weight-set, a bench and some yoga mats. It also provided enough room for lunges, floor work and more. I certainly had enough to get in a killer workout three days in a row.  Now for the “thoughtful part” … (more…)
