Hopefully you’ve already decided that the negatives outweigh the positives when it comes to sunburns and tanning. Wrinkles, cancer, splotchy skin, freckles, moles and premature death are simple reasons to avoid going outdoors unprotected. Having said that, giving up sunburns doesn’t mean you have to give up on glowing golden skin. In fact, the opposite is true. With an incredibly competitive industry blossoming, sunless tanners are better than ever. Bronzed Envy is a perfect example of the strides this industry has made, and has offered up a fabulous Bronzed Envy Home Tanning Kit so you can get a salon quality tan every day of the year in the comfort of your own home.
Trying these products out has been a joy as Bronzed Envy offers a complete line designed to give you a gorgeous glow. The line includes lovely scrubs and moisturizers, but at the heart of what matters most … the sunless tanners are amazing. My favorite is the “Bronzed Illusion” sunless tanning lotion. I like to use it on my face every few days to avoid having to wear too much makeup and it instantly makes my fair Irish skin look like it’s been to the beach for a week. The color is natural and the smell … unlike other sunless tanners, the scent of “Bronzed Illusion” is fantastic! It’s similar to a really mild orange creamsicle, which is something worth purchasing even if it didn’t offer a tan. The most popular Bronzed Envy product though is an aerosol spray called ”Tan in a Can”. Good stuff! (more…)
The Wiggly Circus is on tour in the U.S. right now and the once “regular” group is now ripped. Anthony Field, Murray Cook, Jeff Fatt, Sam Moran and Paddy ( Paul Paddick, Captain Feathersword) are intense about more than just writing and singing great songs for children. They’re fanatical about their fans and hell-bent on knocking out mesmerizing shows year after year. This year, that ambition requires more than just dancing and tossing around massive pieces of inflatable “fruit salad” fruit. The Australian sweeties are standing on top of each other, flying through the air, and climbing poles as though they were really performing in Cirque du Soleil (See Video).
Who the heck do they think they are? The Wiggles - that’s who! There’s a reason they’re the most succesful children’s entertainment group in history. Their musical quality could compete with that of the Rolling Stones (you’d have to (more…)
I recently spent some time chatting with Karissa Shannon, who is one of the twins who took over for Holly, Kendra and Bridget on “The Girls Next Door”. Karissa’s still pursuing reality TV but has also landed a role in the Sofia Coppola dramedy Somewhere. Excited by the opportunity to “break out and become famous” Karissa shares the scoop on her romantic affairs with Hef and how she stays trim.
Fitz: Is Somewhere your first movie? Tell me about your role.
Karissa: Yes, it was my first and I want to do a lot more! My sister and I play exotic dancers; I’m Cindy and she’s Bambi, but we didn’t get naked in the film. Our characters are super fun and playful.
Fitz: How did you get the role?
Karissa: They contacted us through Playboy PR. I’m really happy they did it too, cause my sister and I have always wanted to be famous. We started modeling with Playboy and then got to do a lot of TV with the “Girls Next Door” and now we’re trying movies. I’m like Yes! This is what I want to do. I’ll do them with my sister or branch off and do my own thing. But I want to be in a lot more movies.
Fitz: Have you taken acting classes to prepare for all of this?
Karissa: No, I haven’t. But I have a lot of experience from being on TV for a couple of years.
Fitz: How did you meet Hugh Hefner and become his girlfriend? (more…)
Reebok ZigTech sneakers are probably the coolest looking runners on the market right now. With their funky zigzag shaped sole and sharp colors, there’s no doubt you’ll be noticed (in a good way) with these kicks on your kickers. As far as looks go, they’re fun and can be completely customized to let you take them as far as you’d like to as a force of fitness fashion. Fun!
ZigTechs are also highly functional. As you’d imagine, since Reebok is one of the “big dogs” in the fitness industry … they don’t mess around when it comes to quality. These shoes provide all the necessary components of superb support, structure, breath-ability and flexibility. After a decade of competing as a full-contact kickboxer (barefoot) and about a million miles jogged as a fitness fanatic, my feet need 1st class care. Running in my bright silver and red ZigTechs has been incredibly comfortable and quite simply, issue-free. (more…)
Although the American Idol judge Karen DioGuardo seems to have her stuff together, it wasn’t always the case. In the April issue of Women’s Health Magazine, Karen discusses her battle with an eating disorder, breaking in to the music industry and what she does to keep her body better than it was in her 20’s! Below is a sneak peek at what she had to say!
She battled an eating disorder in her early twenties…
“I’d pretty much clean out the refrigerator. Food was my drug of choice. It anesthetized me so I wouldn’t have to feel whatever I was feeling. I’d stuff myself full of sugar and fall asleep.”
Healthy eating habits…
“The more roughage you eat, the more it fills you up.”
On a beautiful sunny day, I got to sit down in The Swamp with the very sweet, smart and athletic ESPN College GameDayAnalyst Mr. Kirk Herbstreit. No, we weren’t knee deep in mucky water. We were in the heart of Gator Country enjoying the breeze after Kirk completed his workout, running zillions of steps at the University of Florida football stadium, The Swamp. Kirk retired from playing football more than 15 years ago, after four years at quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes and he’s still one of the major faces of college football. Pandemonium strikes college campuses across the country when he — along with host Chris Fowler and analysts Lee Corso and Desmond Howard– set up shop outside the biggest games of each week.
Kirk brings something unique to the team. WhentheGameDay crew heads to the University of Florida, I find more than just the expected crowd of rowdy football fans swarming the ESPN booth. An unusual amount of frenzied females always crowd in for the chance to gaze into Kirk’s turquoise eyes (I enjoyed doing so immensely and certainly found him worth the fuss.) Kirk seems to be an expert juggler of life and shares some great tricks for staying fit on the go. He’s also really funny and shares some surprising gossip about … himself!
Fitz: What types of things do you do to stay in shape?
Kirk: It’s kind of a lifestyle really. As an athlete I worked out so hard, I could eat anything without paying the price for it. As I got older, I still had that appetite and I was not able to work out as hard as I did when I was playing football. What I really try to do is control my portions, and mix in cardio and strength training workouts four to five days a week. If I can do that, I feel like I’m in a pretty good place. It’s just about doing it though!
Fitz: What do you do while you’re on the road? (more…)
