Have you made a resolution for 2010? Weight loss, strength gains, lowering cholesterol and running races are great goals. However! What makes you most likely to achieve them is accountability. If you’ve made a resolution yet haven’t told a soul, you’ll be likely to bail on that plan. The knowledge that your friends, coworkers and family members will be checking in to see if you’re doing what you set out to do is great incentive. Tell everyone!
Me? I’m a bore. I never make NYE resolutions. I just wake up each day hell bent on getting where I want to go. Each of my days are full of resolutions, but since I’m asking you to share something I’ll share my resolution for the day. I will take our new puppy out to run at the park, even though it’s far too cold for this little lizard-like Floridian (me). Now it’s your turn! Share your resolutions here and I promise to do my best to harass you in to accomplishing them.

It’s four days post-Christmas which means, if you haven’t already disposed of all the cookies, cakes, candies and other crap food lying around your house … it’s time to do so. Everybody seems to use the holidays as a big excuse to pig out and go a bit berserk on calories, but the Big C is over and the havoc you may have been reaking on your body needs to stop.
You know that nonsense makes you feel bad anyway, right? Especially since you’re a visitor to Fitzness.com (which you’ve just proven to be). Caught you – ha! My guests care about their bodies, their lives and don’t want me to coddle them. So get moving friends! Start your workouts with a run to the cabinets, cookie jars, cans full-o-crap and feed your starving trash bin. Say “adios” to the belly bloat and “Happy New Year” to your harder, leaner and healthier body!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American friends! Hopefully your meals will be both healthy and tasty. My mother is cooking for 25 of us, and I can’t wait until 4:00pm when the food gets placed on the table. After playing football and soccer for hours, we’ll have 30 pounds of turkey, giant bowls of stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes (made with skim milk and NO butter), asparagus, rolls, and a massive pot of black beans and rice contributed by my Cuban sister-in-law, Sandy. Hooray! I’ll workout for a solid hour in the morning to get my day kicked off right and then cap it off with a long hand-holding walk around the neighborhood with my Mister. I think you should do some sweating too!
I also wish you all a pleasant and drama-free experience with your friends and families. Holidays are only fun if they’re not stressful, so try to keep things bright, light, and pleasant. When a rude comment darts in your direction, count to 10 and plan to calm yourself at the gym the next day. (more…)

SleepNumber.com
If you’re planning on going elaborate and luxurious this year when gifting the one that you love, not much will match the unending comfort and joy brought by a Sleep Number Bed. I can attest to this, because I have one! Now as many of you know, I love fitness. I love moving fast, lifting heavy things and having vigorous fun. I also happen to adore sleep! It’s the vital component that allows me to be all that Fitz can be. My old mattress left me tossing, turning and waking up groggy. My Sleep Number Bed with Memory Foam on top keeps me close to unconscious each and every night until my alarm clock screams, which allows me to wake up with enough energy to tackle life with the tenacity that I prefer.
With fitness being my profession, I spend the great majority of my time telling others to move often and eat well. An equally important sidebar to that information though, is that proper sleep is absolutely neccesary. Why? Exhausted people rarely exercise and usually make poor choices with food. So the gift of a Sleep Number Bed is one that will have both a dramatic effect on your loved one’s nights and their days. (more…)

November is here which means the Holidays have arrived! It’s good to be thankful now, but these Do’s and Don’ts will help you make it to January as a grateful girl or guy who enjoyed every last moment of this festive time without one major regret – weight gain!
- Do remember that holidays are for family, faith, friends and fun.
- Don’t put all of your emphasis on food. There are too many other fun things to do!
- Do feel free to enjoy some turkey and one slice of pie on Thanksgiving Day.
- Don’t enjoy indulgent leftovers for the rest of the week.
- Do crank up your workouts throughout November and December. (more…)
